Dispatch, a Dutch battery developer, is going to construct the Netherlands’ largest stand-alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the port area of Dordrecht. The system will be used for grid stabilization by storing excess energy from renewable sources. The battery, consisting of 144 Fluence cubes will be located on a 6000m² site.
Energy storage can play a key role in contributing to solutions for shortages of capacity on the grid. It is therefore no surprise that we have seen the appetite for large-scale battery energy storage systems growing in the Netherlands.

In November 2023, the developer Kyon Energy received approval to build a new large-scale battery storage project in the town of Alfeld in Lower Saxony, Germany.
